Project Title:	IT-System for the registration of open windows
Abstract:	At the end of a working day all windows of a business building should be closed. However, sometimes it happens that a person forgets to close a window. This may cause severe problems over night or during a whole weekend. Rain water may fall into the corresponding office or - even worse - storm could lead to damages of the open window or of parts of the interior. The task of the Master Thesis is to design an IT-System by which the state of each window (open or closed) of a business building can be reported to a central station. The Thesis should include the following topics: Selection of a sensor principle for the detection of the state of every window considering cost, installation effort, and maintanence Selection of sensor types Usage of micro energy harvesting for delivering the sensors with electric power Wireless transmission of the signals from the sensor to access points in the building Further data transmission through the building (or a set of buildings) to the central station Specific user interface for the PC in the central station Further development of the design to include the transmission of relevant information (warnings) to a mobile device of the caretaker
