Project Title: Visualization of enhanced energy and process flow sheets
Abstract: Analyzing the energy flow of complex industrial energy system is a task that can reveal high energy saving potentials. An important part of this analysis is the distribution of energy between the different process steps in production site. This distribution can easily be perceived using enhanced energy and process flow sheets. These flow sheets display different energy conversion technologies on a flow sheet and route the energy flows between them as colored lines of variable thickness. The thickness represents a certain quantity of a flow. Routing these lines is not an easy task, as the distance parameters between the lines vary from line to line. Therefore classic routing algorithms cannot be used. The task of the master thesis is to adapt existing routing algorithms, so that they are capable of routing lines of variable thickness in enhanced energy and process flow sheets. The following tasks are part of the thesis: Investigation of existing graph routing algorithms Implementation of an existing graph routing algorithm Modification of the algorithm to route lines of variable thickness Evaluation of results using different energy flow sheets of existing industrial sites
