Project Title: Design of a station for changing from cars with combustion engines to electro-bikes
Abstract: Broad public discussions on climate change and e-mobility had many results important for both the automobile industry and traffic organisation. Among them are new concepts for individual transport. One is based on the vision of a long-term coexistence between cars with combustion engines and smaller electric vehicles. In one variant of this vision individuals and families would use their classic car (with combustion engine) for medium and long distance drives, whereas they change to electro-bikes when moving in smaller urban regions. The task of this Master Thesis is to design a station as a kind of city furniture which easily can be located in large car parks at the border of city regions. This change station has to be designed for the following functions: Housing of electric bikes Protection of the bikes against robbery Automatic access to bikes) ordered and reserved by a person in advance on a rental base Automatic access to a free space (slot) for storing a returned bike Recharging the accumulators of electro-bikes returned after usage Usage of solar radiation for this recharging process As a part of city furniture there are also aesthetic requirements that the change stations have to fulfill. Last not least for economic reasons the construction of these stations must be relatively simple. Remark: The IT infrastructure for electro bicycle rental and especially for the automatic access to the change stations is not part of this proposal of a Master Thesis. There is another proposal of the IIEF GmbH concerning topics of the IT-infrastructure.
